Have you been to Nairobi national park yet? Apart from Safari walk and Animal orphanage, have you enjoyed a game drive at the park? Kenya is blessed. The World was created from here (my theory). We have the only park in the world that is within a city! It offers a wilderness experience that is equivalent to the one you get when you visit Maasai Mara, Tsavo, Samburu etc. Nairobi National park has a club house that can house a range of events, e.g. wedding reception, AGMs, parties, etc. While in the park, you enjoy five magnificent views of the neighborhood, which include Mombasa road, Syokimau, Rongai, Ngong hills and City buildings. This park is only 15 minutes drive from Nairobi central business district (CBD). With only KSh. 430, you get access to the park from 6.00am to 6.00pm. If you do not have a ride, you can join monthly trips organized by Tujionee Kenyan Adventures in conjunction with Safiri Nasi at only Ksh. 2800 (transport and park fees included). A game drive at Nairobi National park gives you a unique view of the city. This is the side that no one imagines exists when in the chaotic and congested CBD. It gives you a peace of mind, fresh air, serenity, ambience and a quiet environment to reflect and admire nature at its best. It becomes even more beautiful if you meet strangers who are fun, open minded and adventurers. The memories you make are to cherish forever. The friendship derived from the trip is genuine and enhanced by a common interest. About 2km from the gate, you find the Ivory burning site. The heaps of ivory ash burned by Kenya's second, third and forth president leaves you with watery eyes. The latest one has ash of ivory amounting to 105 tonnes. How many elephants lost their dear lives for this to be obtained? By the time you leave the spot, you join everyone in agreement that 'Never again' shall we kill our elephants. From the sad story, a water pond is the next spot. Here you meet a vast number of birds’ species including Cormorants, spoonbill and Egyptian geese. Crocodiles are also present to this party. Buffaloes graze close to this water spot and so are a few other grazers. The park is characterized by an open savanna which makes it easy to view animals. It also presents impala picnic site which offers a view point of the savanna. The views you get from this point are to die for. The city buildings remind you that you are still in capital city of Kenya and not some other park. The park has a wide range of animals which include, Lions, Rhinos, Leopards, buffaloes, Eland, zebras, gazelles, impalas, Waterbuck, giraffes and hyenas among others. I was privileged to capture a few pictures as presented below: Do not stay in the house or in a club for lack of a plan. If you can spare kshs.2800, ask me when the next trip to this amazing park is. Enjoy the beauty of nature and wilderness at your door step. Imagine how many people pay flight tickets and expensive accommodation just to do a 4 hours game drive at Nairobi National park. This park is on our backyard. You can visit twice a month or once a month and get unique experiences. Let's join hands to conserve and protect our wildlife. The easiest way to do this is to visit the parks. Kindly click on "comments" below to comment
